I am Dr. Traci Petteway, your MHS PTSA President! I am delighted to welcome some and welcome back others to the Marcus High School family! Since our July 1981 chartering, MHS PTSA has made a mark of distinction in the community by providing valuable Parent Education Programs (PEP), Graduating Senior Scholarships for the MHS PTSA “student members”, the 180 Degree Abstinence Program, Red Ribbon Week, Winning the Fight, celebrating our students via the Magnificent Marauder Awards, and showing appreciation towards our dedicated teachers!
Texas is the Lone STAR State and in the MHS PTSA, we believe in exercising our STAR Power in our community with special attention being placed on advocating for ALL CHILDREN, organizing quality programs while implementing services for our students and their parents, and celebrating our teachers. I whole-heartedly believe that genuinely supported and appreciated teachers have the power to motivate and influence students to success; a successful student builds a higher self-esteem as a direct result of that interaction – which ultimately creates well pleased and proud parents!
WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN? It’s quite simple: to support your child and Marcus High School. The MHS PTSA leadership participates in training and advocacy efforts annually on a local, state-wide, and national level. This is a serious matter and we are sincere in our efforts! We are committed to making MHS the best environment for educating your child. “YOU” becoming a member – enhances our mission! Children perform better in school when their parents are involved! Do you want to be an informed parent? Of course you do! The first step in becoming informed is to become involved! MHS PTSA needs you!
HOW DO YOU JOIN? Website: www.marcusptsa.org. Click on “Join” and complete the quick and easy online application. If you do not have access to a computer, a hardcopy application is included (also available and printable from the website). Return the hardcopy with the payment (check made payable to MHS PTSA) to the MHS front office or mail it to the address on the form (i.e. the P.O. Box). Membership is $15.00 annually for each person. If you have membership questions, Amanda Cunningham is our Membership chair and she can be reached at membership@marcusptsa.org. Are you excited and have a heart to serve and volunteer? Kelly Thien is our Volunteer Coordinator! She coordinates volunteers for needs throughout the school in collaboration with school administration and faculty. She can be reached at volunteer@marcusptsa.org.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING?
You will receive a monthly newsletter and e-blasts that will provide relevant school and community information. Also, if you enroll your child as a “student PTSA member” their membership can be listed on their college application under school activities and memberships; as well as on scholarship applications such as Lewisville Education Foundation (LEF) under school activities, membership, and community service!
Again, I am Dr. Traci Petteway and I am honored to serve as your MHS PTSA President. You can reach me at President@marcusptsa.org . Thanks, and With Kindest Regards!
